Glendalough – Double Barrel (70cl)

Glendalough Double Barrel is an Irish single grain whiskey. It begins its maturation in fire-charred American oak casks that previously held bourbon, which add sweet, soft vanilla notes. It is then finished in Oloroso casks from Montilla in Spain, adding dried fruit and a light nuttiness. Nearly four years of maturation in Ireland's mild maritime climate sit behind it. It won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021 and gold at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2024. The nose is dark fruit, cherry, raisins, figs and Christmas pudding, with lemongrass, citrus and nutmeg. The palate is sweet and soft, with caramel, honey, black pepper, maraschino cherries and brown sugar. The finish brings ginger spice, almond and earthy notes.
