GlenDronach – Ode to the Embers

GlenDronach Ode to the Embers is a lightly peated single malt, made as a nod to the traditional practice of drying malt over peat smoke. It was matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which add layers of stewed fruit sweetness and spice around the gentle smoke at its core. The nose is sweet, with spiced fudge, candied nuts, cinnamon biscuits and a touch of jam alongside soft smoke. On the palate come sherried fruit, cooked apples, raisins and honeyed nuts, with waves of gentle peat and earthy oak. The finish brings dark berries, smoked liquorice, cocoa and a hint of ginger.
