First fill Pedro Ximénez barrique
A 10 year old Glenfarclas, distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 by the SMWS from a single cask at 59.8%. Only 210 bottles were produced, each of 70cl. The whisky spent its first five years in a bourbon barrel before moving into a first fill barrique from a small, privately owned bodega, now in its ninth generation, that works exclusively with the Pedro Ximénez grape. The nose is described as a tropical greenhouse of palm trees, orchids and water lilies. On the palate come cotton candy grapes and goat's cheese, with acacia honey, lemon treacle tart and marmalade once water is added.

Tasting Notes

Nose

A tropical greenhouse of palm trees, orchids, cacti and water lilies

Palate

Cotton candy grapes with silky goat's cheese, floral and earthy; with water, acacia honey, lemon treacle tart and seville orange, rum and ginger marmalade, then juicy vanilla rum-soaked cherries with white chocolate and chilli ice cream

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
