Glenfiddich – 40 Year Old Rare Collection

A 40 year old single malt from Glenfiddich, the Dufftown distillery founded by William Grant in 1886. It belongs to the Rare Collection and is named Cumulative Time. It is made by remnant vatting: the Malt Master carries a perpetual batch forward from season to season and marries it with carefully selected casks, so the whisky takes on the flavours of each passing year. It sits in a crystal decanter inside a sculpted jesmonite container, whose grooves suggest veins linking green glass and copper stills. Tasting notes mention dried fruits, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and gentle wood smoke, then fruitcake, polished leather and subtle peat, with a very long finish.
