Glenfiddich – Solera Reserve 15 Year Old

This is a 15 year old single malt from Glenfiddich, the Dufftown distillery founded by William Grant in 1886. It is matured using a solera system, as used for sherry. Malt aged 15 years from three different types of cask is married together in a wooden vat, which is constantly topped up. The whisky is golden with a red hue. The nose is sweet heather honey and vanilla fudge with rich dark fruits. The palate is silky, with sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is rich, with lingering sweetness.
