Glengoyne – 10 Year Old (40%)

Glengoyne 10 Year Old is a Highland single malt matured for ten years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. It is bottled at 40% without chill-filtration or added colour. The barley is dried with warm air rather than peat smoke, and the distillery, founded in 1833 at the foot of the Campsie Hills north of Glasgow, distils slowly. Distilling takes place on the Highland side of the historic boundary, while the maturation warehouses stand across the road in the Lowlands. The nose is crisp apples and golden caramel. The palate is malty, with honeyed and lightly nutty notes, and the finish carries the clean grain character of the malt.
