This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Glengoyne, matured in both sherry oak and bourbon casks.
The distillery uses Golden Promise barley and dries it with air rather than peat smoke, which keeps the character of the malt at the front. Glengoyne received its licence in 1833.
The nose is intense, with coconut oil, honey, lemon zest and hints of oak. The palate is full, with caramelised apples, cinnamon, spice, ginger, and lemon and orange peel on shortbread. The finish carries hints of sherry and soft, rounded oak.
