Glengoyne – 16 Year Old Mizunara Oak (UK Version)

Glengoyne 16 Year Old Mizunara Oak is a Highland single malt matured first in first-fill sherry and refill casks for 10 years, then in Mizunara oak casks for a further six. It is the first Glengoyne to feature Mizunara maturation, and 3,195 bottles were produced. The six years in Mizunara are a full maturation, not a short finish, and not Mizunara heads, where only the ends of the cask are made of it. Mizunara oak has lower tannins than the American or European oak commonly used, and is said to give a more pronounced vanilla sweetness and a sandalwood aroma.
