Glengoyne – 2013 Vintage Pedro Ximénez Cask Edition (47.2%)

This is a 2013 vintage single malt from Glengoyne, distilled that year at the distillery beneath Dumgoyne hill near Killearn, on the edge of the Highland region. It is bottled at 47.2% ABV, in natural colour, in a batch of 9,000 bottles. The whisky was matured in a combination of Glengoyne's classic casks and then enhanced with Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Pedro Ximénez is a dark, syrupy sherry made in Andalusia from sun-dried grapes, and the casks add sweetness and weight to the soft, fruity, unpeated spirit. Glengoyne describes it as layered with festive fruits, warming spice and treacle toffee.
