Refill American oak hogshead
This is a 39 year old Glenlivet from Speyside, distilled in 1980 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as Private Collection #1. It comes from a single refill American oak hogshead, number 12033, and 167 bottles were produced. It is sold in a 70cl bottle. Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler founded in Elgin in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail, and it also owns the Benromach distillery. The nose is led by elderflower and soft dried apricot, with vanilla pod, creme brulee, sherbet lemon and a hint of poached pear. On the palate, fresh citrus comes first, then crystallised violet, gentle pepper, creamy red apple and dried ginger. The finish is medium, with malted cereal, oak and a sweet floral edge.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
