Refill American oak hogshead
A 44 year old Highland single malt from Glenlochy, the Fort William distillery that closed in 1983. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it as part of its Private Collection, in Recollection Series 3, from a single refill American oak hogshead from 1979. It is a cask strength 53.2% bottling in a 70cl bottle, one of 124. Private Collection whiskies are chosen by members of the Urquhart family. The nose is described as orange oil, pressed apple and a hint of ginger, with dried mango, honeycomb and beeswax polish. On the palate come tropical fruit, pineapple, banana, lemon sherbet, strawberry compote and vanilla fudge, with pecan after. The finish is full and smooth, with toasted almonds and oak.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
