An 11 year old Glentauchers single malt bottled by North Star Spirits, the Glasgow independent bottler, as part of its Cask Series. It was distilled in April 2007 and bottled in May 2018 at 58.9% ABV, in a 70cl bottle from a run of 288 bottles.
The whisky first matured in a bourbon hogshead, then spent a finishing period in a Pedro Ximénez cask. It is sweet and fudgy, creamy and full-bodied, with a little Glentauchers spice at the edge.
The nose has honeyed barley, Jamaican ginger cake and cocoa powder. Heavy vanilla leads the palate, with apricot and cinnamon, and the finish is soft oak with orange zest.
