This is a 14 year old single malt from Glentauchers distillery in Speyside, bottled by North Star Spirits as part of its Cask Series 21. It was distilled in 2008 and bottled at 58.1% ABV.
The whisky spent all 14 years in a single oloroso sherry butt. When the cask was opened in 2022 it yielded 708 bottles.
The nose opens with sourdough crumpets and creamy chocolate, then plump raisins and freshly baked sponge cake. The palate is full of sherry-soaked dried fruit, including dates, sultanas and prunes, alongside candied nuts and iced fingers. The finish is long and drying, with oak, baking spice and drizzles of burnt caramel.
