Glenury Royal – 1953 50 Year Old Special Releases 2003 (70cl, 42.8%)

This is a Glenury Royal 50 year old Highland single malt, distilled in 1953 and bottled in 2003 as an official distillery bottling in Diageo's Special Releases. It is bottled at its natural cask strength of 42.8%, in a 70cl bottle. The edition was 498 bottles. At the time it was the oldest whisky in the Special Releases series, and it held that position until a 52 year old Port Dundas arrived in 2017. It is described as complex, with mentholated notes, chocolate, wood spice, earthy tertiary aromas, dark fruits and camphor.
