Glenury Royal – 29 Year Old 1970 Rare Malts Selections Natural Cask Strength (70cl, 57%)

A Glenury Royal distilled in 1970 and matured for 29 years. It was bottled by the distillery in 1999 at a cask strength of 57% and released in the Rare Malts series at the turn of the millennium, in a 70cl bottle. The Highland distillery was one of many to close in 1983. The nose is rather dry, herbal and grassy, with some farmy notes. The palate is sweet, perfumed and well structured, with crystallised fruit and some fresh fruit too. It becomes fruitier with a few drops of water.
