This is a 36 year old Glenury Royal, a Highland single malt distilled in 1968 and bottled in 2005 as a Diageo Special Release. It was bottled at 51.2% ABV in a run of 2,100 bottles, each in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is very fresh, with field flowers, lavender honey and apricot syrup before pineapple, guava and ripe mango arrive, followed by old roses, lychee and a waxy note. The palate is sweet and creamy, full of fruit jams with a gingery edge and very little wood. The finish is long, with fruit liqueurs and a hint of rum.
