This is a 40-year-old Glenury Royal single cask, distilled on 21 June 1973 and bottled on 20 June 2014 at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is bottle number 75 of 157, from Lombard's Jewels of Scotland series.
Glenury was established in 1825 near Stonehaven by Captain Robert Barclay. It was mothballed in 1985 and later demolished.
The nose is big, deep and rich, and beautifully balanced. The palate has honey, cooked fruit, lychee syrup and a little cinnamon, and the finish is long and rummy, with a coating texture.
