Gold Bar Original is a blended American whiskey at 40% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. It is made in San Francisco from whiskey sourced from distilleries across America, distilled from a mashbill of 88% corn, 9% rye and 3% barley.
The blend is given a second maturation in used French oak barrels that once held Napa Valley wines, which adds red fruit and a gentle sweetness to the corn-based spirit. It won a Double Gold Medal at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is burnt sugar and honeyed grain, opening to orchard fruit and red berries. The palate is soft, sweet and creamy, with red fruit and baking spices. The finish is smooth, with vanilla, honey and a little citrus.
