This is an 11 year old unpeated single malt from Glenrothes Distillery in Rothes, Speyside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Discovery range. It sits in the purple-labelled sherry cask group of that range.
The whisky was matured in first-fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 86 proof (43%) without artificial colouring.
The nose is sweet and dense, with cinnamon rolls, stewed raisins and dark cherry jam. On the palate, sticky dates, orange marmalade and butterscotch give way to baking spices and dark cocoa. The finish is long, warm and dry, with dried fruit, candied ginger and sherry wood spice.
