Hakushu – Story of the Distillery 2025 Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky (70cl, 43%)

This is a limited-edition single malt from Suntory's Hakushu distillery in Yamanashi, Japan, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is the second release in a series marking the distillery's 50-year history and its setting in the Southern Japanese Alps. The whisky uses carefully selected peated Hakushu malt aged in bourbon barrels. The label and packaging, made with Echizen washi paper, show the distillery set among woodland, continuing the idea begun in 2024. The colour is light amber. The nose offers pineapple, vanilla cream and roasted green tea, and the palate is light and soft with wasanbon sugar, a touch of bitterness and gentle smoke. The finish carries smoky embers and a bittersweet note.
