Hazelburn – Cage Bottle

A single cask, unpeated Hazelburn from Springbank's Duty Paid Sample series, presented in a wire-caged bottle. It is a young spirit, only just past its teens, matured in refill wood. The nose opens with green apple, pear drop and a waxy citrus edge over honeyed cereal, with vanilla, malt biscuit and a touch of gooseberry building as it sits in the glass. The palate starts hot and lively before settling into stewed apple, barley sugar and a nip of ginger, with a saline thread and an oily, full body. The finish is clean, with citrus and malt and a hint of dunnage at the very end.
