A three-year-old single malt from the Swiss HighGlen Distillery, chosen by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for its Norwest-Euro Express series. Batch 1 is 131 numbered bottles at 46.4%, without chill-filtration or added colour.
It matured in one of the distillery's small 100-litre casks, built from ex-bourbon staves and ex-sherry heads. Both influences come from the one cask rather than from a later finish.
The nose suggests chocolate with fruit and nuts, then plums and black cherries. The palate brings strong chocolate, dried citrus peel, spice and caramel with a light herbal woodiness. The finish keeps tobacco and a little coconut.
