This is a 12 year old blended malt whisky from the 1980s, sold as His Excellency Pure Malt and bottled at 43% ABV. It has a dark gold colour.
The nose is mature yet lively, with honey and toffee set against a dry, dusty spiciness, then green apple peel, orange segments and milk chocolate. Clove, pepper, leather, oak, chamomile and furniture polish follow.
The palate opens softly and is well honeyed, with a decent maltiness, clove, chamomile, pine needles, orange oil and fruit and nut chocolate. The finish is of medium length, with grapefruit and stewed tea.
