HJ Notaris Bartender's Choice is an unaged malt-spirit genever at 47%, in a 750ml bottle. It was created in cooperation with bartenders and is the flagship of the Notaris bartender series, made at the Herman Jansen distillery in Schiedam, founded in 1777.
It combines malt spirit, juniper genever, cornwyn and a high-proof Notaris malt spirit at 51%, brought down to bottling strength.
On the nose, botanicals sit in the background alongside raisins and a delicate malty sweetness. The palate is fruity, with apple and pear, rye, a grainy, slightly yeasty edge and a touch of menthol. It suits cocktails such as a negroni, or a smoky tonic.
