Hogshead Imports Teaninich 2015 10 Year Old 1st Fill Vin Santo Octave (53.8%)

This is a single cask Teaninich single malt, distilled in 2015 and bottled at ten years old by the independent bottler Hogshead Imports. It matured in a first-fill Vin Santo octave, a small cask that previously held the Tuscan dessert wine usually made from dried Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes. Only 59 bottles came from the cask, at 53.8% abv. The nose offers raisins, hints of late-harvest wine and must, with darker notes of figs and plums and mild toffee and honey. On the palate there is brown sugar, raisins and freshly baked apple pie, with orange peel and sweet spices midway. The finish is medium in length, with pepper and bittersweet spice.
