This is a 27 year old Inchgower single malt, bottled as part of the 2018 Diageo Special Releases. It is the first Inchgower in that range.
The whisky was matured in refill American oak hogsheads and bottled at cask strength, 55.3% ABV, giving 8,544 bottles in a 70cl size. Inchgower stands on the coast in Speyside, and its distillers say the sea gives the spirit its salty tang.
The nose is peppery, with pineapple, mango, ginger, shortbread and pine needles. On the palate come oak, tropical fruit peels, orange oil, orchard apples, nutmeg, walnuts and cashews. The finish is oily and nutty, with marzipan and orange oil.
