This Inchgower single malt belongs to Murray McDavid's Cask Craft Collection, batch MAD-02. It was finished in Justino's Madeira wine barriques and bottled at 44.5% ABV. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The Madeira casks add rich dried fruit and gentle oak spice to Inchgower's spicy, malty, nutty and slightly maritime character.
The nose shows pale fruit with a light acidity, sweet malt, nuts, blossom and grassy herbs. The palate is full and distinctly spicy, with dark chocolate, walnuts and honeyed muesli, then a touch of sea salt, dried fruit and fresh citrus. The finish is soft, with nuts, dried apricots, oak spice, a little honey and a note of mint.
