This is a limited edition Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey, released in 2001 as the fourth bottling in the Gold Medal series. The series commemorates gold medals won by the distillery, and bottled at 43% ABV, this one marks the award from the Anglo-American Exposition in London.
In 1914, Lem Motlow, nephew of Jack Daniel, took a batch of the whiskey to London. The distillery was no longer producing at the time, as Prohibition was taking hold in the United States, yet the whiskey still won top honours. Like all Tennessee whiskey, it is filtered through maple charcoal in what is known as the Lincoln County Process.
