Jack Daniel's – Scenes from Lynchburg #9 Charcoal Mellowing Tennessee Whiskey 2008 (1L, 43%)

This is Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey in the Scenes from Lynchburg series of commemorative bottlings. Number 9 is one of twelve in the series and shows old-timers leaning on a charcoal mellowing vat. It was released in 2008 as a 1 litre bottle at 43% ABV. The label picture refers to the mellowing vats, where the whiskey passes through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The nose is sweet and dry, with spice, nuts and a little fine smoke. On the palate it is soft and creamy, with sweet vanilla, caramel and some wood. The finish is long and sweet, with grain and toasted oak.
