Jameson Irish Whiskey from the 1980s, in a 7cl bottle at 40% ABV. It is pale gold in colour.
The nose opens on caramel, which grows stronger with time, alongside caramelised peanuts and very ripe oranges. It turns gradually mashier, then dustier and more tea-like, with possible hints of lavender and geranium.
The palate is very sweet, nutty and cereal-led, and powerful despite the strength, with caramel, candied notes, a little coffee, malt, burnt cake and overcooked praline. Liquorice follows, then tannic dryness. The medium-long finish is mostly bitter chocolate with fresh apple juice.
