Jefferson's Presidential 17 Year Old is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from batch number 9 of the series, in a 75cl bottle at 47% ABV. It was distilled at Stitzel-Weller and comes from some of the last casks of the old distillery, which were bought and bottled by McKlain and Klyne. The brand is named for Thomas Jefferson. The mash includes wheat as well as corn.
The nose has tropical fruit, raspberry jam, toasted cereals, dark nougat, salted butter and fine woods. The palate is soft at first, then livelier, with tea tannins, charred oak, cinnamon, paprika and apple cake with butterscotch. The finish is long and intense, with blackcurrant jam, hazelnut and oak.
