Blade and Bow is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45.5% in a 750ml bottle. It draws on the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, founded in 1935.
It is made by Diageo using a solera system, in which older whiskey, including some of the last stocks distilled at Stitzel-Weller, is continually mingled with younger bourbon aged in new charred American oak barrels. The mashbill is corn, rye and malted barley.
The nose shows ripe pear, dried apricot, vanilla and baking spices. The palate is soft and caramel-led, with toasted oak, dried fruit and nutmeg. The finish is medium, with grapefruit peel, vanilla and charred oak.
