Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Years Old 2009 (75cl, 45.2%)

Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year Old is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon bottled in 2009 at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof), in a 75cl bottle. It is made entirely from spirit distilled at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, which closed in 1992. Wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain in the mash bill, and the whiskey was matured for 20 years. The colour is deep amber with orange tones. The nose is oiled leather, smoke and cigar box. On the palate there is citrus zest, sherry, dried fruit and vanilla over a soft wheated base, and the finish is long and warm.
