Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Years Old 2008 100% Stitzel-Weller (75cl)

This is a 23 year old wheated bourbon from the Van Winkle Family Reserve range, the 2008 release, in a 75cl bottle. It was distilled at the original Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, before the distillery closed in 1992. The spirit dates from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, when the Van Winkle family still ran the distillery they had founded in 1935. Its mashbill uses wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain, which is credited with a soft character and dried fruit complexity.
