John A.P. Conoley Bourbon is a grain-to-glass bourbon from Bogue Sound Distillery in North Carolina, bottled at 52.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is a young bourbon, aged for under two years.
Every step, from grinding locally sourced grain to bottling, takes place on site. The distillery opened in May 2018, and the mashbill holds at least 51% corn from North Carolina farms, cooked with low-pressure steam rather than sugar.
The nose shows cherries and oak, with raisins, vanilla, tobacco, florals and peach beneath. The palate is very sweet, with leather, smoke, honey and oats, and the finish is short, with a touch of coffee.
