John A.P. Conoley Straight Rye is a North Carolina straight rye whiskey from Bogue Sound Distillery, in a 750ml bottle. The distillery is in Bogue, on the state's Crystal Coast.
The mashbill is rye-dominant, at 55% to 66% rye. The whiskey matured for a minimum of two years in new charred American oak barrels, which stand upright in the barrel house.
The nose is rye spice, cracked black pepper and light herbal notes over dry oak. The palate is dry and grain-forward, with baking spice and a restrained sweetness. The finish is crisp and warming, with pepper and oak tannins.
