Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Port Ellen is a limited edition blended Scotch, the second release in the Ghost & Rare series, in a 100cl bottle. Master Blender Jim Beveridge created it from eight whiskies, all at least 20 years old. Port Ellen, the Islay distillery that closed in 1983, sits at its centre. Alongside it are grain whiskies from the closed Carsebridge and Caledonian distilleries and malts from Mortlach, Oban, Blair Athol, Cragganmore and Dailuaine. Each bottle is individually numbered. The nose offers salted butter, marmalade on toast, peat smoke and oatcakes. Perfumed malt, orange blossom, sea salt and coal dust shape the palate, with clove adding warmth. Peat smoke lingers through a long finish.
