This is a Michigan straight bourbon from Joseph Magnus, aged in white oak barrels and then finished in Oloroso sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry and cognac casks. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
Jos. A. Magnus & Co. revives a brand started by Joseph A. Magnus in 1892, re-established in 2015 with a focus on blending and finishing.
The nose offers orange rind with light honey, ripe plums and dark fruits, then buttercream cake and light leather. The palate moves from cherry pie filling, vanilla and brown sugar to drier oak and leather. The finish brings green peppercorn, tobacco leaf and lingering dry oak with a hint of cherry.
