Judson & Moore Bourbon (75cl, 47%)

A craft bourbon distilled, barrelled and bottled in Chicago, Illinois, at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is aged for two years in charred Minnesota white oak barrels. The mashbill is 70% corn, 20% rye and 10% malted barley, which makes it rye-forward. The water comes from Lake Michigan. Minnesota oak is chosen for its tighter grain, which gives more vanillin and sweetness during maturation. The nose shows cherry pie, then a dusty, earthy layer with hints of mint and vanilla. On the palate come lemon zest and grain sweetness, then smoked cedar and a charred, savoury edge. The finish is medium, with wood spice, a faint char and gentle sweetness.
