A 10-year-old Jura single malt from the Island region, sold as a travel retail exclusive under the Sunset Label in a one-litre bottle. It dates from the 1980s.
Direct-fired distillation gave Jura of that time a slightly smokier, caramelised flavour, and many people miss it since the move to steam.
The tasting notes start with dusty cereals, old books, hay and cardboard on the nose, opening to honey, custard, orange marmalade, banana chips and a little caramel. The palate is a simple, honest malt with honey, sweet breakfast cereals, ale and sweetened tea. The finish is shortish, with faint honey sweetness and hay.
