A Japanese single malt from Karuizawa, distilled in 1999 and 2000 and matured in European oak. It was released in 2012 as the Spirit of Asama 55, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. Karuizawa is a closed distillery, though production is due to restart. Standing 850 metres above sea level, it is the highest distillery in Japan, where low temperatures and high humidity shape the climate for maturation.
