Kavalan Distillery Select No1 is a single malt from Kavalan, the Taiwanese distillery that released its first whisky in 2008 and is known for a tropical-fruit style.
It has a deep copper colour and a medium body. The character is described as sherry, European oak and bourbon combined with Kavalan's own fruity spirit.
The nose brings tropical fruit, bush honey, toasted sponge cake and a gingery warmth. The finish carries cinnamon and allspice, followed by a touch of orange zest and cocoa.
