A Taiwanese whisky from the Kavalan distillery, also known as Yuan Shan, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from spirit matured in both new Virginia oak casks and used bourbon casks.
Kavalan uses unusually early cut points when distilling, which gives a sweet character, and its malted barley comes from Scotland. The hot, humid climate means a far larger angel's share than in Scotland, around 15 to 17% a year.
The flavour is sweet and fruity, led by cherry, mango and honey.
