Kavalan Lán is a Taiwanese single malt made as a tribute to Yilan, home of the Kavalan Distillery. The name also refers to the orchid, an emblem of Taiwan. It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, port and STR vinho wine casks, the STR casks being shaved, toasted and re-charred.
The aim is a softer, more refined side of Kavalan while keeping the distillery's tropical fruit character. The nose is floral, with orchid, rose, jasmine and orange blossom over vanilla, caramel, chocolate, melon and berry compote. The palate is smooth and rounded, and the finish is warming and medium in length.
