Kentucky Owl Mardi Gras XO Cask is a small limited edition built on an 11 year old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. It was then finished for over a year in Bayou Rum XO casks. The release celebrates the spirit of Mardi Gras and the pride of Louisiana, and is bottled at 102.8 proof (51.4% ABV).
The nose is toasted rye bread with farm fresh sweet butter, hints of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. The palate starts with robust rye, followed by sweet butter whipped with allspice. The finish is smooth and soft with butter and allspice, then a long, warming nutmeg close.
