Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Rye is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 50.4% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled by Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky and blended by Master Blender John Rhea.
The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged for at least four years in new charred American oak. It is the second release in The Wiseman series, which followed the Wiseman Bourbon, and it launched in April 2022.
The nose is rich and spicy, with fresh rye bread, sweet caramel and cinnamon. Spice fills the mouth on the palate. The finish is long, moving from rye bread to buttered cinnamon toast and ending with a hint of English walnut.
