Kentucky Owl The Wiseman Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whisky in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 50.4% ABV. It was distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
The whisky matures for a minimum of four years in new, charred American oak barrels. Being distilled in Kentucky, it leans sweeter and more dessert-like than the herbal, dill-forward character of many high-rye releases.
Honey, caramel, dried apricot and poached red apple lead the nose, with clove and anise beneath. The palate has date toffee pudding, dark plum and rye bread. The finish is long, with buttered cinnamon toast and walnut.
