Kentucky Owl The Wiseman is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 50.4% ABV (100.8 proof). It is the first permanent release from the Kentucky Owl brand under Master Blender John Rhea, who has more than forty years in the Kentucky spirits industry. The rye is made from a 95% rye mash bill and distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company. Rhea chose the bottling strength to carry the grain's natural spice while keeping the whiskey approachable. The nose pairs rye bread with honey, caramel, dried apricot and peanut brittle. Spice and sweetness alternate on the palate, and the finish moves from fresh rye bread to buttered cinnamon toast and a little English walnut.
