Kilchoman – Machir Bay (70cl)

Machir Bay is an Islay single malt from Kilchoman, in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from one of the island's beaches. The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. Kilchoman is one of Scotland's few farm distilleries, growing and malting its own barley. The nose offers lemon zest, vanilla and a coastal note, with floral tones and ripe peaches and pears. The palate has tropical fruit, dried sultanas and warming smoke over honeyed malt and butterscotch, with sherried fruit, black pepper and sea salt. The finish is long, with citrus sweetness and maritime peat smoke.
