Machir Bay is the flagship Islay single malt from Kilchoman, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle and peated.
The whisky is matured mainly in ex-bourbon barrels, with about 10% Oloroso sherry butt in the mix.
The nose opens with lemon zest, vanilla and a coastal note, then moves to florals, juicy peaches, pears and rich spices. Tropical fruit, dried sultanas, warming smoke, honey, malt and butterscotch lead the palate. The finish is long, with sherry-soaked fruit, black pepper, sea salt, citrus sweetness and maritime peat smoke.
